Litigation, Dispute Resolution & Risk Management

Our Litigation, Dispute Resolution & Risk Management Group provides specialized and quality legal advice on issues of litigation arising from various areas of the law. Our lawyers constantly evaluate each case on its own merit. During evaluation, we look at realistic outcome prior and throughout the litigation process so as to ensure the best outcome for our client. Our lawyers are equipped with vast knowledge, experience and training to effectively attend to our clients’ best interests. Our expertise lies in solving problems and managing risks. We tailor our approach to our clients’ particular needs and goals. Even when reaching amicable resolutions, our focus is strategic, and always on safeguarding the best interests of our clients.

At Michael Okejimi & Co. Law Empire, we believe that not all commercial disputes need to be strictly settled by litigation. To this end we encourage the use of all Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) techniques including negotiation, conciliation, mediation and arbitration when and where appropriate. Alternative Dispute Resolution is used to resolve conflicts out of court. Some of the resolution methods including negotiations and mediations help to avert a costly unproductive litigation process. Our team of lawyers possesses the requisite experience to resolve complex Alternative Dispute Resolution issues and represent clients not only in Arbitration proceedings but also mediation to avoid public and lengthy battles.

Where litigation becomes necessary, we are aggressive, thorough, well prepared, committed and poised to accomplish our clients’ goals. With our orientation in commercial law and practice, we seek the best business outcome for our clients in all matters. The team represents clients in litigation with the primary objective of ensuring that cases are effectively resolved in favour of clients with minimum expenditure of time and resources.

Our experienced litigators effectively and efficiently bring cases, including the most complex, multifaceted issues, to resolution through courts, arbitration or Alternative Dispute Resolution. We have represented clients across various superior courts of record up to the apex Court of the land. In 2021, we successfully prosecuted an appeal for our client against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division with respect to the legal effect of Plea Bargain vis-à-vis the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015 (ACJA).

Our typical case load includes complex, high-value litigation and arbitration dispute resolution relating to commercial transactions, corporate affairs, banking, finance, intellectual property, construction, labour, trade, insolvency & debt recovery, real estate, election disputes as well as the full range of matters arising under the Nigerian law.
