Michael is the Managing Partner of the firm. His expertise spans the disparate yet connected fields of litigation and transactional work and he has considerable experience in corporate & commercial practice and dispute resolution. He leads the Litigation, Dispute Resolution and Risk Management Group of the firm and has represented clients across the superior courts of record up to the apex Court of the land. He loves brain-racking/challenging briefs and is eagle-eyed for details. His uncanny ability to easily comprehend complex legal issues, identify the laws applicable to them and suitably proffer bespoke solutions is beyond misgiving.
Prior to founding Michael Okejimi & Co. Law Empire, Michael worked at the law firm of Kayode Ajulo & Co. Castle of Law where he adroitly handled high profile briefs involving complex issues ranging from commercial transactions to election disputes both at the courts of first instance and on appeals, including but not limited to the following:
- Prepared the Final Written Address for the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) sued as the Defendant in an employment cum labour matter at the National Industrial Court, Abuja Division and got judgment in her favour
- Successfully handled 6 appeals at the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division and got favourable judgments in all the appeals for clients against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
- Prepared the Notice of Preliminary Objection that the Federal High Court, Abuja Division upheld to strike out Senator Dino Melaye’s fundamental right suit against the Control of Infectious Disease Bill 2020 while representing both the Honourable Speaker and the Clerk of the House of Representatives
- Worked on All Progressives Congress (APC)’s defence to the Presidential Election Petition filed at the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division in 2019 by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and PDP against INEC’s declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the 2019 Presidential General Election
- Represented Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before National and State House of Assembly Election Tribunals in Delta and Cross River States
- Prepared and filed an action at the National Industrial Court in respect of 2018 Directorate Promotion Exercise of the Federal Civil Service Commission against the Commission, the Head of Federal Civil Service and the Honourable Minister of the Federal Ministry of Information & Culture
- Prepared and argued plethora of applications in various Courts
- Prepared a comprehensive legal opinion on the Request for the Extradition of over 1,000 Turks in Nigeria
- Prepared a comprehensive legal opinion on breach of contract worth over Three Hundred Million Naira between Hydroworks Limited (a renowned Nigerian company that deals in water and civil engineering works) and the Federal Ministry of Water Resources
- Prepared many other legal opinions on various law subjects
